UPDATE: You can see my coverage of the 2010 race day here. Check out other of my posts to see the pretty girls of the Indy - like the Bud Girls Pit Crew pageant and other racing during the weekends event. Now back to the original post.

Wow, I learned a few things today - like the Canadian Minister of State is Gary Goodyear and that there is such a thing as FedDev Ontario and the Southern Ontario Development Program. Minister Goodyear today announced funding of over 3/4 of a million dollars for a facelift of next year's Honda Indy Toronto event.

The money was released to support economic and community development, as well as to improve safety, and they estimate that the Honda Indy Toronto brings in more than $42 million annually into the GTA.

The manager of the Honda Indy had this to say of the announcement "next year will mark the 25th edition of Indy car racing in Toronto and there's no better way to celebrate the milestone than with a new track," said Kevin Savoree, Owner, President and COO of Green Savoree Toronto, ULC. "We're delighted with this investment and thank Minister Goodyear and the government for their support."
